THE MINNS LABOR GOVERNMENT IS DELIVERING A NEW HOSPITAL IN BANKSTOWN

The Minns Labor Government is building a brand-new, state-of-the-art hospital in Bankstown, with construction starting in the new year.

The health needs of our community were neglected for years under the Liberals. They didn’t even secure a site for this new hospital. Now, Labor is investing $2 billion to create a modern, accessible facility our community can rely on.

This hospital will be a one stop shop including brand new operating theatres, an intensive care unit, a maternity ward, an emergency department, day surgery, mental health services and 1,000 additional parking spots.

Additional express access for ambulances will enable patients to get to the Emergency Department faster and the existing Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital will remain open as a health facility for our community.

MORE HEALTH WORKERS FOR EAST HILLS

This Hospital is part of the Minns Labor Government’s plan to rebuild our healthcare system, not only by building better hospitals but ensuring we have the healthcare workforce to take care of people when they are unwell.

That’s why we:

  • Abolished the Liberals’ unfair wages cap, delivering the largest pay rise for health workers in over a decade;
  • Saved 1,112 nursing jobs the Liberals had planned to cut;
  • Introduced study subsidies to grow the next generation of healthcare workers.

And the results are already showing. In just two years we’ve recruited 472 nurses, 160 doctors and 94 allied health professionals across our local health district.

We still have a lot more to do and I’ll keep working with Premier Chris Minns to deliver the world-class healthcare our community deserves.
