$1.4 Million School Maintenance Blitz
While many of us took a well-earned break over summer, hundreds of tradies were hard at work delivering more than 1,300 school projects across the state. Over $200 million in school upgrades and planned maintenance was completed during the holidays, including $1.4 million invested across ten local schools - Bass Hill Public School, Caroline Chisholm School, Condell Park Public School, Padstow North Public School, Padstow Park Public School, Revesby South Public School, Sir Joseph Banks High School, Milperra Public School, Panania Public School and Picnic Point High School. The NSW Labor Government is committed to ensuring our schools are well maintained, fit for purpose, and support students to learn and thrive close to home. As students return for Term 1, 2026, they are walking into safer, more modern learning spaces.
This work forms part of the biggest investment in public education in a generation, including major upgrades at Sir Joseph Banks High School and Condell Park High School, and the delivery of four new support classes for our community across 2026 and 2027.

Henry Lawson Drive Safety Upgrades
Several important upgrades are now completed, underway or in planning to make Henry Lawson Drive safer for everyone. The NSW Labor Government has invested $350,000 to investigate safety upgrades at the intersection of The River Road and Henry Lawson Drive. Transport for NSW is developing a design to improve safety and traffic flow, including options such as traffic signals and a pedestrian crossing. Early planning work, including checks on utilities and drainage, is already underway. I will continue to advocate for funding to move this design towards construction.
Safety improvements at the intersection of Henry Lawson Drive, Clancy Street and Dilke Road have begun and are expected to be completed in April. This includes a new signalised pedestrian crossing, upgraded footpaths and improved accessibility for people using prams, scooters or mobility aids. I would like to thank everyone who reported potholes to my office. All reported potholes on Henry Lawson Drive have now been repaired, with regular maintenance continuing to keep the road surface in good condition.
These works are in addition to
- Completion of the $144 million Henry Lawson Drive Stage 1A Upgrade on budget and ahead of schedule.
- Stopping trucks parking on Henry Lawson Drive and removing 75 tonnes of illegally dumped rubbish.
- A $110 million investment in the Henry Lawson Drive 1B Upgrade.

Local TAFE NSW student, Jayden Patrizi, has been awarded a 2026 Bert Evans Scholarship to help with the cost of study. This year the NSW Labor Government awarded a record 225 scholarships, helping cover the real costs of training. This is in addition to our 1,000 NSW Public Sector Apprenticeships and Trainees Program, and more locally the $30M investment in Padstow TAFE. TAFE opens doors for many and creates a skilled workforce - the NSW Labor Government is investing in TAFE's future! |
