About East Hills
We pay respect to the local Traditional people of the Salt Pan Creek area, the Bidjigal, a clan group of the Dharug nation of the Sydney region, who have lived here for over 60 000 years. Their land covers Salt Pan Creek, Revesby and the estuarine surrounds north of Georges River.
The electorate of East Hills is a dynamic and growing community in Sydney’s south-west, encompassing the southern part of Canterbury-Bankstown City. It runs along the Georges River from Salt Pan Creek to Georges Hall and takes in Bankstown Airport.
It includes the suburbs of East Hills, Milperra, Revesby, Panania, Padstow, Picnic Point, Padstow Heights and parts of Condell Park, Georges Hall, Bass Hill and Yagoona. It covers 40.9 square kilometres.
The electorate of East Hills is home to approximately 83,000 people according to the 2021 census. Our median age is 38 years old, making us younger than the New South Wales as a whole.
The most common place of birth for those living in East Hills is Australia at 61%, followed by Vietnam, Lebanon, China, India and New Zealand. Nearly 45.4% speak a language other than English at home. It is in this beautiful diversity that the people of East Hills enjoy a unique and strong sense of community.
